Pop studio is ready to rock
Cheltenham is now home to one of the UK’s top recording
studios. Yellow Shark is the brainchild of Jeremy Drew, owner
of recruitment company Alto and a part-time professional drummer.
Mr Drew, from Brockhampton, dreamed of opening a studio and his
success with Alto has enabled him to fund and realise his lifelong
ambition.
Now he hopes the high-tech facility will attract top musical
talent to the town.
Based in the Promenade opposite Montpellier Gardens, Yellow Shark
has the capacity and equipment to cater for anyone from local
bands and corporate video makes to Robbie Williams.
Mr Drew said: “I’m a musician and I had various bits
of recording equipment at home so I decided to take the next
step.
“
We are quite unique in the music industry because we not only
offer state-of-the-art recording equipment but also the highest
quality musical instruments.
“
Our studio is suitable for any type of music and has equipment
most artists would die for.
“
We have already had some famous names in the music industry come
and check out our facilities.”
Yellow Shark offers analogue and digital recording.
Its customers can take advantage of musical instruments such
as Fender guitars, Rhodes piano, synthesisers, samplers and virtually
every percussion instrument.
The studio was built with help from top musical industry engineers,
such as wiring engineer Paul Nice, who has worked with some of
the best names in the pop world.
Its windows are made from three panes of half-inch bullet proof
glass so musicians will not be distracted by the outside world.
“
We have already secured two bookings for the studios next month,
with some interesting talent coming to play here.”
As well as catering for musicians, Yellow Shark hopes to attract
businesses. They will be able to edit their corporate videos at
the studios.
Mr Drew said: “The studio will be able to accommodate many
different types of customer, whether they are film companies
wanting to add theme tunes to their movies or bands looking to
record their first album.”
